This cute 'Brighton' bucket style hat is a must have for all seasons.
An easy and enjoyable project, suitable for any adventurous beginner to sewing, available in three head sizes: small (55cm), medium (57cm) and Large (59cm)*
* to measure your head size wrap a tape measure around your head above the ears (see diagram).
The hat consists of a crown, side band, and a choice of two brim widths: small and large. The small brim is a trendy hat style that sits flat, just over your eyes and the larger brim is designed to be folded back at the front, or just leave it down, its your choice!
This is a suitable project for fabrics such as printed cotton, denim, canvas in spring/summer or woven checks and tweeds and needlecord in winter.
The pattern consists of a four page A5 folded instruction booklet with easy to follow step by step photos and actual size templates on a large format sturdy sheet of paper, which can be either weighed down with weights or pinned in position on the fabric.
Please note that the pattern is written so that it can be reversible i.e in outer fabric and lining in a contrast fabric, however, it could be made so that the same fabric is seen on the underside of the brim, with the lining just on the inner side band and crown. In this case, you will need to adjust the fabric quantities, depending on which brim size you choose.
